The One Kindred One Business Initiative (ÓKÓBÌ), spearheaded by the Imo State Government and led by my office as the Chief Economic Adviser, is making strides in job creation and economic empowerment across the state. With 216 businesses established under the initiative, the program continues to support entrepreneurs and strengthen local economies across the three zones of Imo State: Orlu, Owerri, and Okigwe.
Business Distribution Across the Zones
The distribution of businesses under the ÓKÓBÌ initiative highlights the varying levels of engagement and opportunities across the state:
Orlu Zone leads with 110 businesses, accounting for more than half of all ÓKÓBÌ businesses.
Owerri Zone follows closely with 87 businesses, showcasing significant participation.
Okigwe Zone currently has 19 businesses, reflecting potential for further economic development.
Key Statistics by Local Government Areas
The businesses are spread across multiple Local Government Areas (LGAs), with some LGAs standing out for their high level of entrepreneurial activity. Notable distributions include:
Owerri Municipal (20 businesses) and Ngor Okpala (14 businesses) leading in Owerri Zone.
Ideato North (41 businesses) and Ohaji-Egbema (35 businesses) dominating in Orlu Zone.
Isiala Mbano (13 businesses) spearheading Okigwe Zone’s growth.

Opportunities for Expansion
While Orlu and Owerri Zones have seen significant business activity, Okigwe presents an opportunity for further investment and expansion. With only 19 businesses currently operating, targeted efforts can unlock growth and create more opportunities for entrepreneurs in the zone.
As the ÓKÓBÌ initiative continues to gain momentum, stakeholders, investors, and government agencies must collaborate to drive sustainable business growth across all zones.
